Iron and bamboo

The ‘club’ is undoubtedly the oldest, most widely distributed, most generally used and longest-lived weapon in the history of mankind. From it, all of the cutting and thrusting weapons have been derived. This club, originally only a rough stick has been elaborated into a work of art. These formidable staffs bound and shod with iron were once used in Central India to drive tigers from their prey and sometimes to kill them. In many instances loose rings that slide towards the end when the blow is struck increase the force of the blow from one of these clubs.
