Description / Expertise

One of several early brass alms dishes currently in stock. Main illustration is a 16th century example made in Nuremberg. It depicts the biblical story, Joshua and Caleb, the two spies leaving Canaan carring a large bunch of grapes. We have another three early Nuremberg alms dish 2 with the 'jelly-mould' centre, see second photo, and another with unusual 'pomegranate? design (sold). Also a 17th century Dutch version of the 'two spies' design.
