A Charles X Bedside Commode (c. 1810 France)

An unusual early 19th century tambour fronted satinwood and tulipwood bedside cabinet. The tambour back and sides are veneered in elaborately figured satinwood as is the concave fronted lower shelf. The legs and borders are in tulipwood. The legs are fluted and have satinwood stops. The whole terminates in brass topie feet. The sides are enriched with brass carrying handles and a slide drawer on the right-hand side. The cabinet retains its original white marble top and its pierced arcaded brass gallery
