The Swedish King Gustav III was among the first to become enchanted with the porphyry stone in the 18th century. He ordered it to be sold throughout Europe, Splendid urns and vases and other classical pieces soon appeared in the most elegant settings in Paris and Rome. And you can still find Swedish porphyry products in several places all over Europe. The Swedish King, Karl XIV Johan, took over Elfdahl's porphyry works in 1808.
