A good Georgian mahogany wheel barometer. The case has rope twist chequered edging, inlaid paterae top and bottom and leaf inlays to either side of the thermometer. Inset within the trunk is the Fahrenheit thermometer and below that there is the 8 inch silvered and engraved register plate with a central star pattern and is enclosed within an original concave cast brass bezel.

* Francis Pellegrino was a well-known maker who was active in London between 1790 and 1820. He is listed on page 168 of ‘Barometer Makers and Retailers’ by Edwin Banfield.
