A small Japanese black lacquer chabako (c. 1680 to c. 1700 Japan)

Good condition

The cover is decorated in hiramakie with an eagle on the back of a bull which lows at the crescent moon. The sides have floral panels: a bird in a prunus tree, pine and bamboo under snow, butterflies and chrysanthemums, nadeshiko (pinks). The interior is of nashiji, the underneath of the cover with a grasshopper amongst grasses.
