Description / Expertise

An outstanding quality card table of unusually large proportions. Veneered predominantly in mahogany, the hinged top with double crossbanding of rosewood and with a wide band of satinwood inlaid with a continuous border of trailing flowers and leaves. The top features a semi circular inlaid an of feathers. Detail is highlighted with pen work. The top opens to reveal large baize playing surface supported on double gate legs. The panelled frieze with corresponding rosewood cross banding and with box line striging, and inlaid with Adam style urns to the leg tops. The whole is raised on four square & tapering legs with spade feet. Superb quality throughout. George III circa 1785.
