Antique Inlaid Rosewood Occasional Table – Shoolbred
This beautiful antique Victorian inlaid rosewood occasional table / wine table / centre table ca 1890 has its original makers label James Shoolbred & Co London. The table has an octagonal top which is beautifully inlaid above four elegant turned legs with black porcelain castors and a lower tier with a beautifully turned gallery. The table is a rich medium rosewood colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

James Shoolbred and Co. (Jas Shoolbred) was located on Tottenham Court Road, London and had a thriving centre for fashionable furniture shops from the mid Victorian period. Jas Shoolbred became one of the first large department stores in London. Jas Shoolbred expanded from a small draper business and started to manufacture high quality antique furniture from around the 1870s. Jas Shoolbred was granted a Royal warrant by the mid-1880s and their furniture was of the best quality.
