Description / Expertise

A highly desirable late Victorian bow-fronted enamelled carriage clock in excellent condition.

The polished brass case has many interesting features; corinthian pillars to the four corners, champlevé enamel friezes,top and handle, and beveled glasses to all sides.

The eight day movement has a jewelled lever escapement, striking the hours and the passing of the half hour on a coiled gong, and repeating the last hour by means of the button on the top of the clock. The movement is stamped Fabrique de Paris.

The gilt mask dial has a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals. the mask is signed for the retailer Elkington & Co. Ltd., Paris.
