An important Chippendale period mahogany Chair attributed of Robert Mainwaring (1760-66), Haymarket, London. (Author of The Cabinet and Chair-Maker’s Friend and Companion, 1765 and The Chair-Maker’s Guide, 1766. Noted for his highly original and individual designs including boldly fretted Chinese and Gothic specimens and highly picturesque rural examples).
