Description / Expertise

An early 19th century English naive painting of five brothers and sisters, in watercolour heightened with body colour. The two girls to the right wear dark blue dresses and coral necklaces, and one carries a basket and the other holds a doll; the baby in the centre holds a puppy, and the two boys to the left are in dark suits, and each holds an open book. The children stand on an adventurously patterned carpet beneath a draped curtain.
