Fine French Enamel Portrait (1880 France)

With original dore bronze bow top frame set with green semi-precious stones and a white enamel oval convex mat, this portrait of a lady standing beside a column is signed Le Roy.

These French enamel portraits (mostly by Limoge) are most prized and labour intensive, taking days of application with many layers of glass in several colours to achieve a delicate shimmering effect, under foil painting is then done to reach the final result.
