Description / Expertise
A fine Regency mahogany and ebony inlaid "Gillows" design music or reading stand.
The stand when not raised or tipped and with the rest removed looks like a normal Regency tripod table with an oblong top.
The tripod base has ebony inlay and stands on three brass ball feet while the reeded column has ebony turned decoration above and below.
The top of the tripod support has a brass collar with a locking pin which allows the table to be raised and lowered.
The table top is fitted to a small platform which has a release catch to allow it to be tipped and a brass arm which can be locked at your desired angle.
The rest is a replacement made out of period timber and the table has been sympathetically repolished. (Circa 1810)
