Quality Victorian Walnut Antique Nursing Chair.
This is a quality Victorian walnut antique nursing chair, circa 1840, upholstered in an early tapestry fabric and in excellent condition for its age. It stands on splayed back legs and beautifully turned front legs and has quality brass castors. One back leg is stamped with “51524” which most probably means it was constructed by Gillows of Lancaster, it certainly oozes the quality which would substantiate this. The wood is a medium walnut and has a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
