Rare Tang Dynasty Green Glazed Official Figure (618 to 906 China)

5.50cm wide    23.00cm high    (2.17 inches wide  9.06 inches high)

In excellent condition, with some minor abrasions and surface encrustation.

Figure stands facing forwards wearing a long sleeved green tunic, belted around the middle, falling in folds to the knees, where from black underskirts protrude. Both arms are raised and rest one above the other on the figures stomach. The folds of the fabric have been indicated by incised lines.
The figures facial features have been sensitively moulded, and the original black pigment depicting the eyes and eyebrows is still visible. The figures bears a stern, absolute expression, framed by black officials cap.
Glazed figures of the Tang period are rare.
