Set of Six Walnut Balloon Back Chairs
This is a set of six eye catching walnut balloon back chairs with cabriole legs, circa 1870. Each chair has a moulded back with delightfully carved splats and stands on splayed back legs with elegantly scrolled front legs and is covered in a flattering green upholstery fabric finished with a gold braid trim.
The chairs have minor old repairs, consistent with age, but which do not detract from their quality finish and are all solid for everyday use. They are a warm, medium rich walnut with a striking grain, good patina, are in very good condition and have been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
