Description / Expertise
Concave scroll cresting over upholstered backs.The gunbarrel turned arms terminate with baluster knop and turned paterae with tapered underarm supports to upholstered seats that then continue below to form legs that then splay.

The chairs are in the continental Biedermeier style but are designed and made by Morison & Co. Edinburgh and bear their mark and No. A8339.
Morison & Co. were a renowned firm of Scottish furniture makers with premises at 78 George Street, Edinburgh. They made furniture for Sir David Hunter at Blairquhan House, Straiton, Ayreshire: for Ladykirk, Berwickshire and for Sir James Miller, Manderston, Berwickshire.
