Description / Expertise
The table has a highly figured rosewood top with numerous lines of stringing and a broad partridge-wood banding. Below is a frieze with two drawers on one side and false drawers to the other.
The table supported on tapering end supports above downswept legs terminating in brass box castors and united by a high arched stretcher.
The quality of this table is exceptional and can be determined very easily by the number of lines of stringing and the quality of the materials used. It is a good example of late Sheraton early Regency furniture and as such is an early in date. Later tables became very much heavier in form and the stretchers below the top moved lower and lower until they ran between the bottom of each end support.
