Description / Expertise
A very good George III mahogany bracket clock, by Alexander Campbell, London. The twin fusee, 8 day, movement with original verge escapement striking the hours on a bell. The case with broken arch form, with circular painted dial, with roman numerals to the circumference, makers cartouche “Alexander Campbell, Londonâ€Â, original brass fish scale fretwork to the lower quarters and the sides. The rear has a broken arched glazed door revealing the elegantly peripherally engraved movement. The extremely well figured mahogany case with a broken arch brass bound single pad top, with carry handle. The clock stands on brass ogee bracket feet. An elegant clock of compact proportions in excellent original condition.
