Description / Expertise The Summer Pasture, is a carefully considered, wonderfully thought out and executed study of a typical English summer pasture scene by Henry William Banks Davis. Born in Finchley, North London, son of a barrister, Henry was educated at Oxford and the Royal Academy schools in London. In his early career he was influenced by the pre-Raphaelites, his work showing great observation and detailed technique. Immensely popular in his lifetime exhibiting at the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society, British Institution, Royal Society of British Artists and the salons in Paris and Vienna. His works were held in high esteem and are held today in many public collections including the National Gallery and Tate Gallery. The Summer Pasture is a stunning example of his work.
