Oil on board, titled on reverse. Harry Riley was primarily a painter of landscapes and figure subjects. He was also a cartoonist. He was born in London in 1895 and studied at the Hammersmith and St Martin's Schools of Art. He exhibited at a wide range of venues and was elected a Member of the Royal Insitute of Painters in Watercolour. During the late 1920s he was President of the London Sketch Club. The painting is framed in a hand gilded and decorated frame.
