Description / Expertise
Nest of four rosewood tables each of diminishing size fitting one into another and made to draw out of each to use separately. Each with well figured tops with inset cockbeading supported by tapered end supports to platform ends united by stretchers and standing upon scroll feet.
After a design by Thomas Sheraton in 1803 and in the Cabinet Makers Dictionary of Design of 1805. George Smith stated that such tables were placed in the drawing room so as to prevent the company from rising from their seats when taking refreshment.
