Description / Expertise
KEN MORONEY (born 1949)
‘Harlequin Figure’
oil on board - signed - 16 x 16ins
Born in Dublin,14 February 1949, of Irish parentage and educated in London.
His extraordinary aptitude for fine draughtsmanship was recognized early in his school years and he won many major art competitions during his teens.
A self-taught artist, he specialized in small oil studies which were swiftly executed, and which were compared with those of Sir Alfred Munnings and Edward Seago. He painted landscape and figure subjects in a bold colourful style.
He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and has had a number of one-man exhibitions in major London galleries, including Duncan Miller Contemporary Arts, 1991.
