Flat backed attendant female, grey pottery with applied blue and red pigment. Wearing high bodiced red gown with long flowing vibrant blue skirts and thick white hems, hands concealed within long sleeves of gown. Rounded face with features in good relief, hair tied into two buns on top of head. Funerary figures from the Zhou Dynasty are extremely rare, consequently there are few comparable examples. The tomb of Li Xian (569), general in the Northern Zhou army however uncovered in 1983 at Guyuan, in Ningxia Autonomous region affords us a few examples of guardian warriors bearing characteristics of Zhou funerary figures, which can be viewed in the Guyuan Museum.
