Benjamin Cam Norton was a nineteenth century English sporting artist who was born in Sheffield & who had many private patrons in the Midlands.
He is particularly known for the extremely fine quality of his horse portraits, but he also painted prize cattle and human portraits. As well as hunters he painted racehorse portraits on racecourses such as Doncaster and Newmarket. Norton exhibited at the British Institute in 1862.
He lived and worked in Newmarket for many years and died there on New Year’s Day 1900.
