Description / Expertise
A rare example of an American War of Independence period Powder Horn. A type often found in a rifleman's hunting bag. The fine engraving depicts the Royal Coat of Arms of George 111 flanked by a lion and a unicorn surmounted by a royal crown with garter belt inscribed 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' over a ribbon inscribed 'Dieu et mon droit'.
The decoration is completed with a huntsman stalking stags in a landscape.
