Description / Expertise
A very fine Irish carved bog oak Inkstand, carved as an Owl. His head which is hinged opens to reveal the inkwell, the beak is of bone, the leg chain and talons of brass, the base carved with shamrocks.
Stock No. 8215G
The National Museum of Ireland has a similar owl which bears a maker's label of Cornelius Goggin, Irish bog oak carver to Her Majesty, 13 Nassau Street Dublin.
