Victorian Burr Walnut Card / Games Table ca 1860
This beautiful Scottish antique Victorian burr walnut card / games table has a rectangular top with canted corners and striking figured burr walnut. The top swivels and opens to double in size, revealing a concealed games compartment. The interior of the top is green baize with a red tooled leather trim and unusual shaped brass hinges. The piece has a deep moulded frieze, beautiful scrolled carved brackets, stands on four beautiful turned carved legs with original brass and brown porcelain castors. The piece has four lower shaped supports with a beautiful pineapple carved centre, is a rich medium walnut colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
