Description / Expertise Highland Waters is a classical, mystical and romantic highland sunset scene by renowned highland painter Alfred de Bréasnki, with an abundance of artistic flair and superb technical talent. All the classical Bréanski features are captured in this painting, with pink sky and hills, mist rolling over the top of the mountain, shafts of light over the distant hills, beautifully painted water reflections and a shepherd attending his sheep. Born in Greenwich (London) in 1852, the eldest son of Leopold de Bréanski, Alfred became famous for his paintings of British landscapes. His prolific output included views of the River Thames (where he kept a houseboat) and also Scottish and Welsh mountain landscapes. Of particular note are spectacular paintings of Scottish lochs at sunset. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1872 and 1890, and also at the Society of British Artists on Suffolk Street. He had seven children including two sons who also became painters - Arthur and Alfred Fontville de Bréanski."Highland Waters" is a timeless, classical Bréanski of the highest quality, an excellent piece of art.
