Silver medal for the Accession of Queen Anne, 8 March, 1702, with a charming reverse. Executed by John Croker. Obverse: Bust of Anne looking left, crowned, with lovelock on the left shoulder, in a gown fastened with a brooch in front. Legend: ANNA . D : G : MAG : BR : FR : ET . HIB : REGINA.. Reverse: A heart enclosed within branches of oak and laurel which pass through a crown above and rest upon a pedestal inscribed: ATAVIS REGIBVS. (From royal ancestors). Legend: ENTIRELY ENGLISH. See "Medallic Illustrations" vol. 2 p.227/1. According to "Medallic Illustrations", Queen Anne addressed the two Houses of Parliament on 11 March, 1702 and during the course of her speech declared: "As I know my own heart to be entirely English, I can very sincerely assure you there is not anything you can expect or desire from me which I shall not be ready to do for the happiness and prosperity of England."
