Below, centred by rim, plain frosted silver plaque engraved 1931. Around rim in raised letters "ROYAL . AGRICULTURAL . SOCIETY . OF . ENGLAND". The hallmarks for Birmingham 1931 are stamped right of centre between this inscription and the garland of roses and can be seen clearly with a magnifying glass. Left of centre is stamped the makers' mark MN&WB. The names of the recipients of the medal are engraved on the flange "BOWELL & SKARRATT.".

Maker :- MN&WB

Like so many British medals, the obverse is rather sober, while the reverse is delightfully decorative. This is enhanced by the contrast of frosted and polished silver and raised and engraved lettering, which is very effective.
