Victorian silver award medal for chemistry. The Royal Infirmary Medical School Liverpool. Obverse: The facade of the Royal Infirmary stamped in high relief centrally. Below: "ESTABLISHED/ANN:DOM:/ 1834" Around the edge: "THE ROYAL INFIRMARY MEDICAL SCHOOL LIVERPOOL." Reverse: A fruited laurel wreath around the edge, stamped in relief. Engraved in the centre, surrounded by scratch decoration: "WINTER SESSION/ 1889-90/ CHEMISTRY". Below the centre of the wreath there are some words which are illegible because they have been mis-struck Engraved at the top of the medal on the edge:- J. A. EATOCK.
The mis-struck words are probably the name of the medallist.
