Jeremiah Meyer, circa 1770-1780
A fabulous portrait of an officer wearing scarlet faced black velvet coat worn by the Corps of Engineers, gold buttons, white cravat and stock
Set in the original gold frame with blue enamel border set with gold foliate motif, the reverse with plaited hair within blue glass border
After 1782 the scarlet faced coat was replaced by a blue coat faced with black velvet.
