Franciszek Smiadecki, (fl. c. 1664)
A Gentleman, facing right in brown cloak, lace-bordered white lawn collar with tassel, full bottomed curling wig, moustache. gilt-metal mount.
Smiadecki is believed to have been the son of a serf of the Orlov family (who were members of the Russian nobility) and to have gone when young to Sweden, where he was taught miniature painting by Alexander Cooper (1609-1660).
