Description / Expertise
The horse, 'Old Tom' was owned by Henry Charles, a licensed maltster with premises situated somewhere closeby to Northleach, Gloucestershire.
Signed ‘ Painted by J Miles Northleach 1834’.
John Miles was an artist well known for his portrayal of farm animals and received many local commissions. This painting was purchased by us directly
from a descendent of Henry Charles, the original owner.
The frame is of well figured Burr Maple with a gilt slip and measures
Height 23.25 ” (59cm) Width 30.5” (77cm)
