Description / Expertise
Decorated with an outer floral border surrounding a raised central lyre motif, in addition to floral sprays, flower heads and rococo shell motifs, on a matted ground. The base and sides decorated with crisp engine turning and this example has a beautiful cast floral thumbpiece. The interior marked grille, pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and a central stylised wheel motif. Made in Birmingham in 1826 by John Lawrence.
