Description / Expertise
As Pevsner writes, the bridge in St Ives is the town’s most memorable monument. It dates from circa 1415. The bridge chapel is one of only three in England, the others being in Wakefield and Rotherham. In the present watercolour an extension, which has now been removed, has been built onto the single-storey chapel.
