Thomas King was born in 1730 and died in London 1804. Although ranking alongside his contempory, Garrick, the fortune he may have amassed was lost through his unconquerable passion for gambling. He died in lodgings on Store Street, Tottenham Court Road, leaving his widow almost dependent on the charity of friends.
