Tang Dynasty Polo Player
618-906 A.D
Flowingly modeled with a lady seated upon galloping horse with outstretched legs, rider's body twisted left with head facing downward; right arm raised above the shoulder, left arm by side, both fists clenched and drilled. Rider wears orange painted tunic with thick lapels and pants, rounded face with features remaining in pigment surmounted by bun on top of head. Horses' body with traces of original white slip remaining, features realistically rendered, hogged mane, wide eye beneath strong brow, flaring nostril and parted mouth.
A very nice example, superbly modelled.
