Description / Expertise
These four Ship’s Candlesticks follow the form of the Rodney Decanter with an unusually large base to prevent them tipping other. Added to this they are weighted, probably with casting sand. The sconces are removable to allow for 2 different sizes of candle and for cleaning. Although the design makes perfect sense for on board use they are rare and so it would seem didn’t receive widespread use.
