Description / Expertise
Born in Exeter, he was educated at Exeter Cathedral School and Christ’s College, Cambridge. He became a professional artist in 1898, exhibiting widely and becoming a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1902; the same year he moved to Lelant in Cornwall. Particularly fascinated by the effects of moonlight, he painted landscapes of his native Devon and Cornwall and also travelled to paint in France and North Africa.
