Additional Info

Growing up in an environment rich in culture and the decorative arts Adrian Alan quickly developed a love of beautiful objects and a keen eye for quality from a young age. Adrian began buying fine 19th-century furniture and works of art in the early 1960s, well before these objects achieved the recognition that they now enjoy. After early success in this field he soon realised the potential of buying in France and other parts of the world, his eye for quality leading him to specialise in important exhibition pieces and unusual and decorative items. Founded in 1964, Adrian Alan is now an international family-run business that has been dealing over three generations, sourcing important items for private collectors and major museums around the world. Based in South Audley Street, in the heart of London’s Mayfair, their spacious galleries showcase a vast stock of over one thousand antiques, ranging from armoires and bookcases through to writing tables, pedestals, clocks and scientific instruments, to name but a few. Fine chandeliers can be found adjacent to paintings, tapestries, bronzes and metalware. They service a worldwide client base and offer expert advice on all aspects of the art buying process. The company remains a family business today, combining Adrian’s experience with the skills of the next generation, his daughters, Hayley and Louisa.
