Additional Info

Agnew’s is one of the world’s leading international art galleries. In addition to dealing in Old Master paintings, British paintings and watercolours and original Master prints, particularly by French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, they also represent contemporary artists. The firm was founded in 1817 and from premises in Mayfair, London transacts in works of art with clients, not only throughout Britain, but also in the United States, Continental Europe, Australia and the Far East. One of Agnew’s strengths is the breadth of knowledge of its specialists, which includes Christopher Kingzett and Julian Agnew on Old Masters, Thomas Lighton and Gina Agnew on modern British and contemporary art, Gay Naughton on Old Master drawings, prints and watercolours and Georgina Pemberton on both Australian and modern British and contemporary art. Regular exhibitions are a distinctive feature of Agnew’s year, ranging between works by Old Masters and living artists. Agnew’s also purchase works of art for their own stock directly from private collectors or take works of art on consignment. They offer guidance on buying or selling at auction including pre-sale estimates, valuations, advice on conservation and bidding strategies.
