RollestonEst. 1961
Rolleston are antique dealers who specialise in English furniture, primarily from 1690 to about 1810. They have become particularly known for their William & Mary, Queen Anne and early Georgian pieces. The forerunner to the present business was originally founded in London in 1955 by the late Marion Priestley, followed in due course by her son, Brian Rolleston. In more recent times Brian’s son, James Rolleston has in turn also joined the family business, which has now traded from the same premises for over half a century. Rolleston are therefore now a third generation family concern. Within their stock may be found fine examples of Georgian mahogany or walnut seating, such as side chairs, wing chairs and settees, along with cabinets, secretaries or chests of draws, to name but a few. There is a strong emphasis on the figuring of woods and veneers, as well as on the depth of their patina. The company is a long-standing member of the British Antique Dealers’ Association, Brian Rolleston also having previously served on its Council for many years. Members of the family have vetted 17th- and 18th-century English furniture whilst on the vetting committees of a number of major antiques fairs, including that of the BADA Fair.
