Sanda LiptonEst. 1975
Sanda Lipton left her profession as an economist in 1979 to devote herself full time to her antique silver business. For many years her great interest had been antique silver and the way in which it takes you back into the social history of Great Britain. This naturally also led her to deal in historical and commemorative British medals which reflect the entire history of the country in art form. The operation grew from a stand in London’s Portobello Road market to a shop in Knightsbridge, opposite Harrods. Sanda now works from an office in Central London to give her more freedom to search for new pieces and research existing ones. She has exhibited her varied stock of antique silver and medals at major London antique fairs for many years. Sanda specializes in Georgian and Victorian domestic silver, collectors’ items from the 16th to the 19th century and silver associated with British social history. The silver is almost exclusively English, Scottish or Irish. Occasionally a few collector’s pieces from the Channel Islands or of Continental origin are offered but she does not stock American silver. British historical and commemorative medals are also included. In common with other fields of antique collecting, condition is paramount. Sanda is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of both The Silver Society and the Company of Arts Scholars, Dealers and Collectors. Selection of images - view full Online Gallery |
