Founded over 25 years ago, Jonathan Potter Limited has become leading antique map specialists. Their extensive stock includes rare collectors’ items from the 15th to the 19th centuries, and finely engraved decorative antique maps, charts and plans of all parts of the World. Complete atlases and reference books on the history of cartography are also in the inventory.
They welcome enquiries from potential and established collectors, curators and dealers, and those looking for a single decorative piece, gift, or presentation item. Included within their diverse and fascinating stock visitors will find items ranging from celestial star charts, 17th-century British atlases and English county maps through to rare late 15th-century woodblocks.
Jonathan Potter himself has been working in the map trade for almost forty years, and is the author of Collecting Antique Maps, a comprehensive guide to beginning a map collection. In 2010 he accepted the IMCoS Helen Wallis Award for 'cartographic contributions of great merit'. Jonathan is a former President of the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association.
After many years in Mayfair, the business is now operating from bright new gallery premises in George Street, Marylebone, London W1.
