In 1997, Martin Murray established Martin Murray Antiques after thirteen years of training in furniture restoration in his father’s business. Having always been drawn to country furniture and early oak, Martin decided the time had come to specialise and began establishing himself at vetted antique fairs.
Martin places great importance on pieces that bare the patina of age and uses, integrity of surface and natural unmolested colour are important and he uses a disciplined approach to his selection of each object.
Martin’s primary specialisations are sculptural primitive pieces, country house painted furniture and early oak and walnut, with a tendency toward the unusual. Complimentary to this, he also specialises in folk art, naïve paintings, needlework and pottery.
Martin has exhibited at several major fairs including Olympia and Art Antiques London in addition to trading from his gallery in Pimlico.
