Moretti Fine Art Ltd

With premises in three countries, Moretti is an internationally known gallery specialising in Italian Old Master paintings.

The president of the company is Fabrizio Moretti, son of the well-known Italian antique dealer, Alfredo Moretti. Following graduation from the University of Florence with a degree in literature and history, Fabrizio founded Moretti Srl at the tender age of just 22.

The company's principal gallery is located in the heart of Florence, between the Strozzi palace and Santa Maria Novella, and opened its doors in 1999 with the inaugural exhibition, Da Bernardo Daddi a Giorgio Vasari. From that point forward the gallery become known as a specialist in gold ground painting, mostly from Tuscany.

Moretti also has a London gallery in Ryder Street, St James's, at the heart of the London art market and a New York gallery at East 80th Street, in the shadow of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Since its inception the gallery has strived to develop its constant commitment to study and research, and has achieved this through its involvement in exhibitions. In 2001, the show Pittori attivi in Toscana dal Trecento al Settecento signalled the expansion of the gallery's specialization to include Italian paintings up to the XVII century. In 2003, Da Ambrogio Lorenzetti a Sandro Botticelli included in its exhibition the superbly structural and volumetric triptych by Taddeo Gaddi, a close follower of Giotto. The fifteenth century, a great period for Medici and humanistic Florence, was represented by a refined work by the young Francesco Botticini. The show was also able to display the diverse milieux of Italian artists with the rare Genoese Giovanni Mazone and a sophisticated Adorazione of the Magi by the Sienese Pietro di Francesco Orioli. The catalogue, Dagli eredi di Giotto al primo Cinquecento, was published in October 2007 and included two works by Lorenzo Monaco, Taddeo Gaddi and Savoldo.

The gallery exhibits at TEFAF Maastricht, Masterpiece London, The International Fine Art Fair in New York and the Pavillon des Antiquaires et des Beaux-arts in Paris.
