Membership and Support

CINOA is the principal art and antiques federation in the world, representing 5000 dealers in 20 countries. Our aim is to represent and promote the responsible trade in art, antiques and design. Our focus is cultural conservation and the trade’s role in protecting the history and heritage of mankind from what is often well meaning, but poorly drafted legislation. CINOA leads concerted actions to curtail legislation that penalises legitimate trade and which can lead to the destruction of cultural artifacts.

The CINOA Secretariat advocates for analysis and verification of data that can lead to simpler and better solutions to help sustain the marketplace. CINOA had been successful in unearthing false statistics that were, and unfortunately still are, cited as examples for why trade should be more regulated. Further, we have successfully presented our viewpoint on a number of issues and helped affect legislation in favor of the trade in both the EU and United States. Our proactive approach is designed to influence legislation before it is voted into law. To this end, CINOA has hired a Brussels based public affairs firm to keep track of pending EU discussion and legislation that concerns our members. Our outreach is always to inform lawmakers of both our research and position.

At CINOA, we firmly believe that it is important for the trade to band together on issues.
We know that the issues that affect our members will also affect groups that serve our members and we would like to ask these groups to unite with us to present the totality of what improper legislation can cost the industry at large. CINOA seeks better lines of communication with non-affiliated groups in the art and antique sector, such as art fairs, insurance companies, transporters, experts, collector, art professional groups, etc.
