RICHARD RUMI
Born in 1960, Richard Rumi initially studied cabinetry. At eighteen Richard traveled to England where he began his career as an apprentice with the prominent antique restoration firm Restell Brown & Clennell. For two years, Richard furthered his knowledge of antique furniture by learning European restoration and conservation techniques.

In 1981 Richard returned to Canada as a Master Finisher and founded Richard Rumi & Company. He developed original leather stain finishes and within his first year of business became personal restorer to Robert Dirstein, then Toronto's top interior designer. Recognizing a high demand for professional dealers and restorers in Canada Richard expanded his business by opening his first showroom in Oakville, Ontario dedicated to 17th, 18th and 19th century English and Continental Furniture. He also increased the size of his restoration and conservation studio.

Over twenty-five years Richard has become known for his exceptional knowledge of fine antique furniture, utilizing his restoration and conservation background to examine a piece from the inside out. He has provided restoration and conservation for numerous private and public collections including the Royal Ontario Museum and has flown world-wide as a consultant, furnishing clients' personal residences. As a member of the Canadian Antique Dealers Association (CADA), he served as the youngest associate on the vetting committee and later became Vice-President. He has appeared on numerous television programs including Breakfast Television and has vetted furniture for the Canadian Antiques Road Show. He has exhibited at international fairs including the Spring International Art & Antiques show at the New York Armory, the Palm Beach Jewelry & Antique Show, the Nashville Antique & Garden Show, and the Chicago International Antiques Show.

CHARLOTTE RUMI
Charlotte Rumi's love of design was fostered at an early age through her family's fashion business in London, England. Modeling and working in the designer clothing department she developed an eye for textiles and form. Her talent did not go unnoticed and she was quickly put in charge of purchasing for the company.

In 1981, Charlotte and Richard married and decided to raise their family in Canada. Charlotte left England and moved to Oakville, Ontario where she assisted Richard with the founding of Richard Rumi & Company. After raising three children, she returned to the business and attended the Interior Design program at Sheridan College. As Vice-President, she was instrumental in expanding the company's presence in the United States, working with top New York designers and private clients. Her focus on personal one-on-one communication enabled her to cater to her client's every need resulting in commissions to furnish entire estates.
